The alert, issued at 6:01 PM on Sunday July 13, warns of deteriorating air quality and reduced visibility due to wildfire smoke. The fire is currently burning approximately 40 kilometres from the townsite of Waskesiu, a popular summer destination for cabin owners and outdoor enthusiasts.

"Residents and visitors to Prince Albert National Park are to prepare and be ready to evacuate if required," the alert states.
"If you are able to leave now, please do so."
The advisory comes just hours after Parks Canada implemented a complete fire ban for the park earlier today, prohibiting all open fires in an effort to prevent additional wildfire starts during the current dry conditions.
A fire ban is now in effect for #PrinceAlbertNP. Lighting or having fires is strictly prohibited.

Park officials are asking the public to avoid all non-essential travel to the area while emergency crews monitor the situation. The Buhl Wildfire has the potential to create emergency situations for visitors and residents, particularly those with respiratory conditions who may be affected by smoke.
Cabin owners and park visitors who remain in the area should:
- Have an evacuation plan ready
- Keep important documents and medications easily accessible
- Monitor SaskAlert and official Parks Canada channels for updates
- Be prepared to leave on short notice if conditions deteriorate
The wildfire emergency alert remains active as of Sunday evening. Those seeking current information can visit the SaskAlert website for real-time updates.
