Lush rainforest. White sand beaches. Crystal-clear turquoise waters. Sounds an awful lot like a tropical Caribbean paradise.
Turns out that's also how you might describe Calvert Island - a remote spot about 100 km north of the town of Port Hardy on Vancouver Island.

It’s a haven for kayakers, marine biologists, and anyone craving raw, windswept beauty without the crowds.
Accessible only by boat or floatplane, Calvert Island is home to the Hakai Lúxvbálís Conservancy, one of the largest protected marine areas on the west coast.

And history buffs? You’re in luck too.
Archaeologists have found 13,000-year-old human footprints here, among the oldest ever discovered in North America.

So if you’ve ever dreamed of a tropical getaway without leaving Canada, consider this your invitation.
The Caribbean of the North is calling!
