Parks Canada ordered the immediate closure of the entire northern section of Prince Albert National Park late Sunday night, as wildfire conditions continue to deteriorate surrounding Saskatchewan's most popular National Park.

The closure, announced by Field Unit Superintendent Jennifer Duquette, restricts access to all areas from the park's northern boundary extending south, including popular destinations such as the Kingsmere Wilderness Area, Crean Lake, Heart Lakes, and the Wabeno, Wassegam, Tibiska, Nova and Osten areas.
"The area is hereby closed and restricted to authorized personnel only,"
The closure comes as the Buhl Wildfire continues to threaten the park. Earlier today, Parks Canada issued a wildfire emergency alert for the entire park, warning residents and visitors to prepare for potential evacuation.
What This Means for Visitors:
- All recreational activities in the northern section are suspended immediately
- Only authorized personnel are permitted in the closed areas
- The closure remains in effect until further notice
- Visitors should check with park officials before planning any trips to the area
This closure represents a significant yet not unexpected escalation in the park's response to the wildfire threat.
